Well I think you have confused with the grammar I have used. In statistical testing, we require degree of freedom to calculate p-value in Chi-square test, while do not require DOF in Z-Score calculation.

In my grammar, I have used variable 'z' as the drift by which my observation varies from origin probability distribution curve. (lets say a normal distribution)
